Clemson University Wordmark

From left, Donald D. Clayton, Hermann Beer, Franz Kaeppeler and Richard L. Macklin sharing a beer in Clayton's Heidelberg apartment on zur Forstquelle (Boxberg) in May 1980. Beer and Kaeppeler (from Kernforchungszentrum Karlsruhe) had initiated, with Clayton's theoretical motivation, a new measuring technique for keV neutron-capture cross sections for the astrophysical s process. Macklin travelled from ORNL (Oak Ridge) to participate in this meeting and program.
