Clemson University Wordmark

Ahmed El Goresy, meteoriticist and mineralogist extraordinaire, holds Donald Clayton’s 3-year old daughter, Alia, in Clayton’s home at 602 W. Polk Street near downtown Houston . El Goresy encouraged Clayton greatly during Clayton’s 1976-81 construction of the cosmic-chemical-memory theory for transferring interstellar isotopic anomalies into meteoritic minerals. This photo occurred during El Goresy’s visit to Clayton’s home during the 12 th Lunar & Planetary Science Conference. March 21, 1981 . Nine years later El Goresy was instrumental in the award of the Leonard Medal to Clayton by the Meteoritical Society (see 1991 Livermore Workshop).
