Donald Clayton and Gary Huss hiking in the Haleakala volcanic crater on July 20, 1997, the day before the 60th meeting of the Meteoritical Society on Maui. Gary Huss pioneered the detection and characterization of presolar oxide grains in work at Caltech before moving to Arizona State University.
